Performance Lab
Do you want to improve your sport performance whether it’s running, football, hockey, rugby or any other sport? Not sure how, or are you doing generic workouts in the gym? How do you know you are doing the right things?
The Performance Lab is a comprehensive performance assessment for uninjured athletes looking to improve athletic output and reduce future injury risk. It is designed to give you measurable data to drive change.
What is the Performance Lab?
This session provides a detailed evaluation of movement quality, physical capacity, and key performance metrics. Using objective testing and clinical expertise, we identify strengths, limitations, and areas that may be restricting performance or increasing load on the body.
The assessment concludes with a clear, individualised plan to guide training and performance development.
After 3 months, or when you are ready, return for a repeat peformance lab session to see changes.
Who is This For?
✔ Competitive and recreational athletes looking for Screenings & pre-season testing
✔ Runners and field-based sport athletes
✔ Gym-based athletes seeking performance optimisation
✔ Individuals without current injury who want structured performance improvement
What our clients say
What’s Included in the Performance Lab Session?
Each performance lab session is tailored to the individual, their current issues, performance goals, sport & position. Each Performance Lab session lasts approximately 90 minutes, and provides us with a holistic picture and measures for repeat testing after injury or prolonged conditioning.
This can include:
Injury Screening
A structured screening process to assess movement patterns, joint control, and asymmetries that may increase injury risk or be present from previous injuries.
This includes assessment of:
-
Movement control and stability
-
Side-to-side differences
-
Load tolerance during functional tasks
- Ongoing niggles or aches as a result of load
Identifying potential issues early allows performance to be developed safely and sustainably.
Mobility Screening
Assessment of joint range of motion and movement capacity to identify restrictions that may impact performance.
Common areas assessed include:
-
Hip, ankle, and thoracic spine mobility
-
Shoulder and overhead movement
-
Active control through range
Mobility findings are linked directly to performance demands and training requirements.
Strength Testing
Objective strength testing to assess force production and control across key muscle groups.
Testing focuses on:
-
Upper and lower limb strength
-
Limb symmetry
-
Identification of strength deficits affecting performance
These findings provide a foundation for targeted performance programming.
Jump & Power Testing
Evaluation of explosive strength and power output under dynamic conditions.
Testing may include:
-
Vertical or horizontal jump assessments
-
Force production and absorption
-
Power symmetry and landing strategy
This helps determine how effectively strength transfers into athletic movement.
Speed & Agility Testing
Assessment of speed, acceleration, deceleration, and change-of-direction ability relevant to sporting demands.
Key areas assessed:
-
Acceleration mechanics
-
Speed efficiency
-
Agility and movement control
This is particularly relevant for running-based and multidirectional sports.
Running Video Analysis
Detailed video analysis of running mechanics to assess efficiency and load management.
Analysis includes:
-
Stride pattern and cadence
-
Foot strike and ground contact
-
Pelvic, hip, and trunk control
Video feedback allows clear identification of technical factors influencing performance.
Individualised Performance Plan
Following the assessment, you will receive a detailed, individualised performance plan based on your results.
This plan is designed to:
-
Address identified limitations
-
Improve performance-related deficits
-
Reduce future injury risk
-
Provide clear direction for training
Recommendations are practical, evidence-based, and tailored to your sport and performance goals.
