Onward Referrals

At DP Sports Performance & Injury Clinic we believe in honest advice, which is why at the end of your assessment, if we think you require further investigations or to see an orthopaedic consultant, we can refer you either privately or via your GP.

Not all conditions or injuries necessarily require further imaging such as MRI, Ultrasound or Xray, but where we think it may be beneficial, we can discuss this with you and refer directly for these investigations.

In the majority of cases, treatment can commence without the need for onward referrals or further investigations, but these options always remain should we feel your injury not improving at the expected levels.

What Treatments do our Physiotherapists use?

Acupuncture Mitcham Direct Physio

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a treatment technique originally derived from Traditional Chinese Medicine. This technique involves using specifically designed needles to stimulate sensory nerves under skin and in muscle. Acupuncture has many benefits, but is mainly used as pain relief in western medicine, and can be very useful for many conditions such as headaches, low back pain, knee pain and more. Acupuncture is carried out by fully qualified professionals that have undergone extensive further training and are members of the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists.

Exercise DP Sports Clinic

Manual Techniques DP Sports Clinic

Manual Techniques

Manual techniques are on all encompassing term for many of the hands-on techniques we use. This can include gentle to firm mobilisations of joints to higher grade manipulations of the spine. Through further training and continued development, your physiotherapist will discuss and determine the best options to help improve your symptoms.

Massage DP Sports Clinics

Massage Techniques

Massage techniques are often used to release or relax soft tissue structures that may be causing or contributing to pain or stiffness. Massage techniques used by our physiotherapists include Instrument Assisted massage (often known as Graston or Blading), sports massage techniques, Massage gun & trigger point release.

Electrotherapy

Electrotherapy

At DP Sports Performance & Injury Clinic, we have access to Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES) & Transcutaneous Electrical Stimulation (TENS) devices. These are extremely useful in regaining strength and reducing pain, especially when recovering from surgeries and acute injuries.

Sports Taping Mitcham Direct Physio

Sports Taping

Sports Taping is often associated with the colourful tape seen on professional athletes. Sports taping involves the use of specifically designed elasticated tape, applied to the body in a way that helps support muscles, joints, ligaments and tendons. This stability can help alleviate pain and speed up recovery from injury.

Post op rehabilitation
